DONEGAL booked a safe passage into an Ulster SFC quarter-final thanks to a 16-point win over Down in Newry.
Goals by Jamie Brennan and Patrick McBrearty secured a 2-25 to 1-12 win for Declan Bonner’s side.
An injury to Michael Murphy that ended the captain’s participation after just 29 minutes was a big concern but otherwise it was a trouble-free day for Donegal.
Brennan replaced Murphy and slammed in a goal in the first half while the Bundoran man was one of four substitutes on the mark.
Donegal had 11 different players on the scoreboard and they look forward to a meeting with Derry in two weeks’ time.
