The Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) has taken possession of a luxury house overlooking Lough Swilly, believed to have been bought with the proceeds of drug money.
The Sunday World newspaper reported yesterday that the large bungalow was owned by convicted criminal, Desmond ‘Dessie’ Enfield.
Following the granting of a High Court order, the property is now in the possession of the State and will be sold, with all proceeds going to the exchequer. CAB has also confiscated luxury cars belonging to Enfield.
When jailed in 2016, he was described in court as the leader of a cross-border gang and one of Ulster’s most prolific dealers. He was caught in Newry, County Down, with €340,000 worth of cannabis herb in the back of a van.
