The Martin McGuinness memorial fly-fishing competition is set to go ahead this summer.
The popular event will return to the Eddie Fullerton Dam lake in the Illies on July 25th.
The competition was cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic.
Since its launch in 2018, the event has honoured two of Mr McGuinness’ great loves – fly fishing and the Illies, the home of his beloved mother.
The former deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland once composed a poem about Fullerton’s Dam which was in tribute to local Sinn Féin councillor Eddie Fullerton who was murdered by loyalist paramilitaries in 1991.
The fly-fishing event is hosted annually by the Martin McGuinness Peace Foundation and the Buncrana Anglers Association.
