Donegal County Council has been asked to tar the overflow carpark at Bernard McGlinchey Town Park so that it can be used all year round.
The Town Park has seen an increase in usage during Covid-19, which has created more demand for parking spaces.
Cllr Jimmy Kavanagh has asked the Letterkenny-Milford MD to explore options to cater for the increased visitors.
The council responded to say the overflow carpark was designed a grassed area only to be used in the summer months. Dependent on weather, the overflow carpark should be soon in a condition that it can be opened to the public for the summer.
Cllr Kavanagh was told that a surfaced carpark in this area would require a significant budget for supply and lay of tar and additional storm drainage.
The council currently has no budget available for this work, but said it would carry out an assessment and prepare a design and seek funding opportunities to carry out works to allow this carpark to remain open to the public all year.
