DECLAN Coulter feels that Donegal put pressure on themselves by billing yesterday’s League opener against Roscommon as ‘must win’.
Donegal needed a late 1-2 salvo to topple Roscommon and bag the points.
Donegal looked consigned to defeat, but Ronan McDermott’s goal and a pair of points by Niall Cleary and Coulter stole a win.
“It was a bit of a smash-and-grab,” Coulter told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.
“We left it late, but we’ll take it.
“We’ve proven to ourselves and to he management that we keep going. We’ll take it. We had targeted today as a must win.
“Boys were a bit edgy, probably because we had billed it as a big one early on.”
Newly-promoted Donegal – who defeated Armagh in the Division 3A final last spring – were in arrears until the stoppage time heroics.
Coulter, who scored nine points, said: “Ronan just threw himself at it, he was very brave to go down on it. Niall scored a lovely point to put us in front. You could see in their body language, they were in disbelief. There was no time for them to come back.”
