AN ISLAND school in Donegal is to get a new classroom building.
Planning permission has been sought for a new development at Gairmscoil Mhich Diarmada on Arranmore.
The proposed development would see the construction of a new classroom building to contain a new art room and a general classroom with sanitary facilities.
A new stone entrance wall and piers to facilitate the relocation of school entrance gates is provided for.
Planning permission was requested on May 4 by Anne McHugh, the CEO of Donegal ETB, and Donegal County Council say a decision on the application is due on June 28.
Gairmscoil Mhich Diarmada – the only second level school on Arranmore – opened in October 1990 has 82 pupils enrolled. School principal Mary Doherty has 13 teaching staff and four support staff.
