A large group of young people were sent home from a gathering at an Inishowen beach last night.
Gardaí were on patrol in Culdaff when they came across the gathering at the football pitch and at the beach.
“The youths had a quantity of alcohol in their possession,” a garda spokesperson confirmed.
“Besides the fact that these young people are not the legal age to drink alcohol, such gatherings pose a risk to the youths themselves, their family circle and also the wider community as Covid-19 has not gone away!”
Gardaí have issued an appeal to parents/guardians speak to/advise teens about the potential consequences of underage drinking. They are also urging parents to talk to their children about meeting up in groups and the associated risks due to Covid-19.
