A LEADING Donegal doctor believes that the Government’s targets for Covid-19 vaccinations can be met.
Dr Denis McCauley, who is the Chair of the irish Medical Organisation’s GP Committee, told Morning Ireland that the country is performing as well as it can.
Dr McCauley outlined that Covid-19 cases remain high due to the dominant variant being more infectious.
Dr McCauley said: “If you compare us with Denmark, the only difference is that they got extra Pfizer.
“So I think we should be pleased. The infrastructure and the people are working hard, as soon as we get vaccines we’re giving it.”
Dr McCauley said that while ‘a bit of confusion and change’ had led to ‘dents’ in public confidence, he indicated that the vaccine rollout is going ‘well’.
