Gardai in Letterkenny are bringing their patrols to the town’s main park for people who would prefer not to visit their local station.
The town’s Community Policing Unit will be on patrol later today at the Bernard McGlinchey Town Park close to Letterkenny University Hospital from 3pm to 5pm.
Gardai say the plan is to meet people who may have issues or problems in a neutral setting.
A spokesperson said “PLease feel free to stop and have a friendly socially distanced chat if there is anything you would like to discuss, if you want advice or you just want to say hello.
“Some people may not feel comfortable going to a Garda station for various reasons and we understand that.
“This is an opportunity to interact with Gardai in a neutral setting. We look forward to meeting you.”
