Kilmacrennan National School recently won the 2021 Donegal Primary Schools Concern Debating Championship.
Organised via Zoom by the Donegal Education Centre, Kilmacrennan emerged as winners following a most enjoyable debate with Holy Family NS from Ballyshannon.
Kilmacrennan were represented by John Cannon, Conn McGettigan and Orla Kearney and the team successfully opposed the motion that ‘Children Can Make a Big Difference to the Environment’.
Orla was delighted to receive the ‘Best Speaker’ award. Kilmacrennan National School will now represent Donegal in the National Stages of the competition.
Indeed, the school is maintaining a proud record in this competition, claiming their third title in recent years.
Last year, Oisín Morris, Damhán McGettigan and John Cannon were 2020 County Champions, but Covid restrictions meant that the National Stages weren’t held.
