An inspirational duo from Letterkenny have raised over €1,000 for MS Ireland after a gruelling running challenge.
Liam McCleary and Joseph Gibson put themselves through the 4x4x48 Goggins Challenge on 8th March.
It’s an endurance challenge with a difference, which involves completing 12 runs – 4 mile at a time 6.4 km, every 4 hours over a 48 hour period. This meant little time for sleep in between the four hour intervals.
The first run started at 4 AM on 6th March. Liam, a Strength & Conditioning Coach, encouraged his musician friend Joe to complete the testing run.
Inspired by ex-Navy Seal and ultrarunning enthusiast David Goggins the 4x4x48 challenge can be done from anywhere in the world.
Liam and Joe were inspired by the ‘never give up’ philosophy of the run and this helped them get through the final stages of the challenge. They were supported by friends who joined them for stages of the run along the way.
Liam and Joe have been congratulated for completing the run during lockdown, and raising essential funding for MS Ireland
