A non-profit organisation in Clonmany has restored an old building and agreed to lease it to a local community resource group.
The directors of the Clonmany Festival (Clonmany Enterprise Development Ltd) agreed to lease the Market House and the Parochial House. Both buildings are owned by the development company and will be occupied by Clonmany Youth and Community Resource Centre.
“These buildings are owned by Clonmany Enterprise Development Ltd and are held in trust on behalf of the people of Clonmany,” a statement released by the committee said.
“The successful restoration of the Market House has returned this building back to its original state and opened it up for public use. This lease/rental agreement will provide other opportunities for the continued use of both buildings by the local community.”
The resource centre plans to use the buildings for the development of a local history and heritage museum “to help tell the stories of the people, community, traditions and memories.”
There are also plans to create digital, remote working spaces as well as providing counselling services.
