Met Eireann has issued a 24-hour weather warning for Donegal due to heavy downpours.
A bad night is in store, as forecasters warn of risks of localised flooding, hail and isolated thunderstorms.
The status yellow alert is valid for Donegal only, from 3pm today to 3pm Saturday.
“Potential for surface and river flooding,” the warning said.
“There will be a few sunny intervals between showers through the afternoon. Cloud will build later as showers merge into longer spells of rain. Highest temperatures of 6 to 8 degrees Celsius in fresh to strong and gusty southwesterly winds.”
Tonight, bands of rain are forecast to quickly clear to scattered showers, with showers turning wintry at times and a risk of an isolated thunderstorm.
It will also be a cold night, with lowest temperatures of 1 to 3 degrees Celsius.
