A painting of one of Donegal’s most iconic buildings fetched more than €2,000 at a top online auction last week.
Fanad Lighthouse, a signed oil on board by Ivan Sutton, finally went under the hammer for a cool €2,300 at Whyte’s Spring Online Art Auction.
Offers of between €1,500 and €2,000 were initially sought for the work, however, there was a lot of interest from buyers, according to the auctioneers. The painting itself measured 20 x 30in. (50.80 x 76.20cm).
Another scene from the county, ‘Between Gortahork and Gweedore’ by Alan Bradshaw, was sold for €340.
