A WOMAN smashed a pint glass when throwing it in the direction of staff after being refused alcohol in a Donegal hotel.
On December 5, 2020, at 11.40am, Gardai responded to a disturbance in the reception area of Kee’s Hotel, Stranorlar.
During the initial call, a woman was heard shouting aggressively.
When Gardaí arrived, the woman had left the the scene but they located Louise Lynch a short distance away.
Lynch (42), of Diamond Court, Castlefin, was before Letterkenny District Court charged in relation to the incident.
Lynch, who was a resident at the hotel the previous night, smashed the pint glass when she threw it in the direction of staff at the reception counter.
Sergeant Jim Collins said the accused was ‘apologetic’ after her arrest and she admitted throwing the glass.
Solicitor Mr Frank Dorrian said his client was ‘apologetic, embarrassed and somewhat disbelieving’.
“She had been overindulging the previous evening,” Mr Dorrian said.
“There is a very strong dependency issue at play. This happened as a result of her being declined further alcohol.
“She more discarded rather than propelled the item. It was dismissive, rather than aggressive.”
Mr Dorrian said his client, who is originally from the UK, had ‘underlying emotive issues’ and the indecent was a ‘product of addition’.
Judge Paul Kelly said if Lynch made a €150 donation to Planet Youth in Ballybofey, he would strike out the charge. The case was adjourned to April 12 next for the production of a receipt.
