Youths warned about using football pitch during lockdown

An east Donegal soccer club has warned it will call in Gardai if youths continue to illegally use their pitch.

Killea FC issued a statement on the official page today clarifying that the boys using their field were not members of any of their teams.

“Not only are these boys breaking Covid guidelines, they are also trespassing on club owned facilities,” the statement read.

“We understand that this is a difficult time and we all need a bit of fun, but this is the kind of stuff that is keeping us in lockdown. We are hoping the guidelines will ease soon so our own players can use the pitch again. However, this kind of activity has to stop or we will have no surface to play on.”

The club added that they are not generating any revenue at the moment and that the damage ‘these boys’ are causing will cost them a lot of money to repair.

“Thank you to all those who have sent pictures and reported this to us and, should this happen again, we will be informing the Gardai.”
