The first Covid-19 vaccination clinic at the Millbrae Surgery in the Stranorlar Health Centre began this morning.
The surgery only received its first consignment of the vaccines yesterday evening.
“By this evening, all our patients over 85 who attend the surgery will have received their first dose,” a spokesperson for the surgery said.
“We will receive our next batch of vaccines in two weeks time, to begin vaccinating those over 80 years of age. In four weeks time, we will vaccinate those over 75 and, in six weeks, we will vaccinate the remainder of our over 70s. All patients will be contacted in advance. There is no need to contact the surgery.”
They added that all eligible patients will have received their appointments by now. Anyone arriving for their vaccination today are urged to stay in their cars until they are called.
Patients from the Convoy clinic will also be vaccinated at the Stranorlar centre.
The surgery is closed this morning to facilitate the clinic, with only emergency service being available in the afternoon.
The surgery stressed that those under 70, with medical conditions, are the next priority group.
However, they do not yet have a timeframe for this group.
