North West Simon Community is set to receive much-needed support from the Letterkenny Institute of Technology (Lyit) Civic Engagement class of 2021.
Students have created various campaigns and fundraisers with an aim of raising €6,000 for the North West Simon Community in conjunction with long standing Simon Community supporter Vincent Butler, who self-published a book called ‘Sixty Photographs for Simon’.
The charity book consists of 60 photographs taken on his worldwide travels working as a lecturer aboard and to date it has generated over €70,000, all of which has been donated to the Simon Community countrywide.
For every €20 raised through the Lyit Civic Engagement campaign, North West Simon Community will gift a copy of Vincent’s captivating book ‘Sixty Photographs for Simon’ to a school in the area. It contains 60 photographs in a broad geographical sweep stretching from the Arctic to Antarctic covering a wide spectrum of subjects. Images include stunning landscape vistas, cultural compositions, and captivating wildlife encounters.
Donations will not only support North West Simon Community in their work with people experiencing or who are at risk of homelessness in Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo but it will also help young scholars who have recently experienced hardship, uncertainty, and disruption due to the Covid-19 crisis.
