A NEW food bank has been established to cater for those in need over a large area of south Donegal.
The food bank is the brainchild of Kilcar woman Linda Boyle, who was at the nerve centre of the Killybegs Community Kitchen project during the first Covid-19 lockdown in 2020.

Now, alongside Killybegs-based Councillor Niamh Kennedy, Linda has resurrected the idea to aid the needy again.
The food bank covers an area from Dunkineely to Glencolmcille.
Donations of everything from rice, tinned fruit/pudding, tea bags/coffee, jars of ready-to-use sauces, dilute juice and other such items are all welcomed by the organisers.
Donations may be left at the Fusion Bistro in Killybegs between 10am and 12 noon on Monday, Wednesday or Friday.

“We’ve had a great start to the food bank,” Linda says.
“It’s nice to be nice and see the goodness even when it’s tough.
“Any food stuffs left over will be allocated to the Donegal Town and Letterkenny areas.
“We hope to make it an ongoing thing if the need is there.”
Last April, Linda took part in a charity head shave which raised over €13,000 for the Killybegs Community Kitchen and her endeavours are continuing in the latest lockdown.
She added: “Anyone that may be in need of it can contact me personally or Cllr Niamh Kennedy. Please be assured that everything will be treated in the strictest of confidence. We all need help from time to time.”
