Planning permission has been granted for a new takeaway in Kilmacrennan village.
Maree Friel has been given the go-ahead for a change of use of a former bicycle shop on Kilmacrennan’s Main Street to make way for a new fast food outlet.
Donegal County Council’s Conservation Officer, however, raised concerns about the loss of the traditional shop front and felt the proposed new patio doors were not appropriate, particularly as the building next door is a protected structure.
As a result, permission was granted subject to a number of conditions, including that the replacement shopfront is of a traditional design.
The sign above the door must also be in the Irish language.
