TALKS around oral and practical examinations for this year’s Leaving Cert will be central when teachers unions and the Department of Education meet this week.
Officials are attempting to find a common ground that will allow exams to take place and give students a choice at receiving a ‘calculated grade’.
It seems likely that exams will begin later than usual with dates in late June being explored.
This is in response to the lengthy time students have spent outside of the classroom this year.
There remains hope in the education sector that oral examinations could take place after Easter.
