DONEGAL County Council gritters will be dispatched at 5pm with temperatures expected to plummet tonight.

The Council says that all main routes will be gritted.

Tonight’s forecast from Met Éireann says: “Tonight will be cold with some clear spells. Most areas will be dry, but a few wintry showers may develop in the south and east of the province.

“Lowest temperatures of -2 to +2 degrees with a widespread frost and some icy patches. Easterly winds will remain moderate to fresh overnight.”

Motorists are advised to drive with caution.

Donegal County Council say: ‘Assume no road is ice free’.
