A total of €400,000 has been granted for four projects in County Donegal which will help towns and villages adapt to Covid-19.
The news has been welcomed by Donegal TD Joe McHugh.
He said, “I am delighted that this funding has been made available through the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.
“It has always been vitally important to help towns and villages in Donegal thrive, and it is even more beneficial as communities respond to the challenges presented by Covid-19.
“Towns and villages will be able to implement immediate measures that will encourage people into towns and villages to shop and socialise, while adhering to public health guidelines. It is important we generate economic activity while keeping the people of Donegal as safe as possible.”
Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine and Donegal TD, Charlie McConalogue, has also welcomed the funding.
He commented, “This funding is about helping communities get back on their feet and adapt to the ongoing challenges Covid-19 presents. It will help support our rural communities in this challenging time and make our towns and villages safer places to live, work and do business.
“Since August, more than €25 million has been provided to over 500 projects nationwide under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme. These projects will make a real and lasting difference and demonstrates this Government’s strong commitment to supporting our rural communities.
“It is clear that now more than ever we must support our local communities,” concluded Minister McConalogue.
