Yesterday evening, 52 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in Donegal.
In the last two weeks, there have been 1,325 infections in the county.
At the Scally McDaid Roarty Medical Practice in Letterkenny, all routine and non-urgent appointments have been cancelled.
“This is to protect you our patients and staff,” they said in an announcement.
Essential childhood vaccination appointments, antenatal appointments and cervical smear screening will continue as normal.
The practice advices that phone lines are extremely busy, but they are still offering a service for essential/urgent care.
Millbrae Surgery in Stranorlar have also advised that they expect to be very busy in the coming weeks.
“We will need to focus on Covid care and the most urgent medical issues,” they said.
“If you have a routine issue (routine check up/ cholesterol check etc) we would appreciate if this could be delayed.
“We will try to provide as much care by phone/video consultation as possible, and all requests for appointments will need to be discussed by phone with a doctor/nurse first.”
Millbrae are no accepting walk-ins while requests for prescriptions will only be accepted by email or by leaving a written request in the letter box. These will not be accepted in person at the desk.
They have appealed for the public to be patient with staff.
