Do you enjoy the great outdoors? Are you a member of a walking group? Cycling club? Or do you organise events in your local community (pre-restrictions) such as community days, sports events or outdoor festivals?
With the outdoors becoming increasingly popular during the COVID-19 pandemic and nationwide lockdowns, there has never been a better time to learn how best to protect, preserve and enhance Donegal’s local environment.
Leave No Trace Ireland are excited to announce that for the first time, you can now access a free online course, providing a flexible way for you to learn about the Leave No Trace ethos.
The interactive courses will be delivered online via Zoom by Advanced Leave No Trace Trainers who share a passion for the outdoors and will provide you with a better understanding of recreation-related impacts, the 7 Principles and how Leave No Trace skills and ethics can help protect the outdoor places we love.
Leave No Trace is currently offering two course dates in the New Year: Thursday 4th February 2021 from 7pm to 9pm and Saturday 6th February 2021 from 9:45am to 11:45am. Spaces are limited and expected to fill up fast so early booking is recommended.
This programme is in partnership with Donegal Local Development Company CLG (DLDC) and is available to those living within this catchment area. Those who complete this training will receive a certificate as well as resources to share the Leave No Trace message with others.
Maura Kiely, CEO of Leave No Trace Ireland encourages people to avail of this training. She said: “This is an ideal opportunity for anyone in the DLDC area to avail of free online training and to learn new ways to protect the environment. There is a need now more than ever for everyone to take responsibility and work together to protect Ireland’s greatest assets, our natural environment.”
