Irish Water has been slammed once more after water supplies were again disrupted in Falcarragh today.
The West Donegal town has been continually hampered by a poor water supply with many businesses being forced to close again today.
Local TD Pearse Doherty raised the water supply issues in Falcarragh today with Irish Water.
He said that the ongoing nightmare faced by businesses and homes in the area has become a “disgrace.”
Speaking this evening, Deputy Doherty said “Councillor John Sheamais Ó Fearraigh and I have been in touch, yet again, today with Irish Water in relation to the nightmare facing businesses and homes in Falcarragh and surrounding areas. It’s a disgrace that this is still an issue after promises that it would be resolved.”
“We have had businesses again today that have had to shut down, only days after they were allowed to reopen, because the water supply experienced more problems. This is not good enough and I have made this very clear to Irish Water.”
He said they have asked Irish Water for a full and comprehensive response to their questions.
“We asked the reason for the outage; the steps Irish Water have taken to remedy the outage; and when the water supply will be reinstated. We will be in touch with local residents and business affected who have contacted us with responses as soon as we have them.”
“I want the people of Falcarragh to know that I will continue to hold Irish Water to account over this. It’s completely unacceptable.”
