MANAGEMENT at two popular Donegal hotels have announced that they will remain closed over Christmas.
The Abbey Hotel and Central Hotel, both located at The Diamond, Donegal Town, will not be reopening next week when the country moves to Level 3.
Under Level 3 restrictions, the hospitality sector is allowed to reopen again from the end of next week.
However, the Abbey and Central hotels will remain temporarily closed.
“Following the Government announcement that the Country will move to Level 3 in the ‘Plan for Living with COVID-19’ our Directors have had to make one of the most difficult decisions,” a statement said.
“After much deliberation and particularly with bearing in mind the health & safety advice and recommendations from NPHET it has been decided that we will remain temporarily closed until Level 3 restrictions are lifted in 2021 to protect our teams over the Festive period & to protect our local community.
“It is in keeping with our approach of placing the health and safety of our staff and guests above all other considerations that we have made this decision.”
The hotels briefly reopened in the summer after the end of the first lockdown. Now, though, they will stay closed over the festive period.
The management say that all guests with upcoming bookings will be contacted to reschedule.
They said: “We will be back soon stronger in 2021 and we appreciate all of your support through these challenging times.”
