Newly-renovated areas of St. Conal’s Hospital will be used for clinical services, the HSE has confirmed.
Parts of the building on the Letterkenny University Hospital campus are currently undergoing a fabric upgrade. The works, which are estimated at a cost of €850,000, are set to last approximately six months.
Once complete, priority will be given to medical and healthcare services over administrative functions, confirmed John Hayes, Chief Officer of the HSE CHO 1 area.
Work on the project, which includes upgrading of the roof, windows and walls, is being undertaken by McDermott & Trearty Construction on behalf of HSE Estates.
The existing Medical Rehab Unit is set to be moved to the new Letterkenny Community Nursing Unit. The new Community Hospital project is set to proceed to tender in 2021 and it is anticipated that the building will be operational in 2023.
The estimated net construction cost of the Community Hospital is currently €37.8 million.
