A NEW system of fines for various breaches of Covid-19 regulations has been announced.
The new system will see organisers of house parties or other gatherings in private dwellings hit will on-the-spot €500 fines.
People attending such gatherings can be fined €150.
There is an €80 penalty for failing to wear a mask on public transport or in a retail outlet.
Breaches of travel restrictions could lead to a €100 fine.
A failure to pay the penalty notice within 28 days could lead to a prosecution through the courts system.
The regulations have been signed by Health Minister Stephen Donnelly.
