Joe Biden has finally been declared the new President of America.
The 77-year-old clinched the key battleground state of Pennsylvania, taking the 270 electoral college votes needed to win the presidency.
It followed claims earlier today by his opponent Donald Trump that he had won the election “by a lot.”
Mr Biden is expected to take office as the 46th president of the United States in January 2021.
With his election, Kamala Harris will become the first woman, and the first person of colour, to serve as the vice-president of the United States.
Mr Biden will be the oldest US president in history and is due to turn 78 later this month.
He is another American President who can trace his ancestors back to Ireland and could visit here as early as next year.
