The Rescue 118 helicopter was dispatched from its Sligo base overnight to assist in a missing person case in Buncrana.
Locals have reported hearing the chopper over the Inishowen town overnight.
Gardai also took part in the search for the missing person.
The helicopter has since returned to base.
No further details have been released on the missing person.
