FORMER Donegal player Rory Kavanagh says the class of 2020 have to prove their credentials on the All-Ireland stage.
The 2012 All-Ireland winner believes that ‘new leaders’, such as defender Stephen McMenamin, have emerged in Declan Bonner’s squad in recent times.
But the St Eunan’s man says that Donegal, who are going for a third Ulster title in a row, need to push on.
“Donegal have won back-to-back Ulster Championships, but they have to prove that they’re more than that,” Kavanagh told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.
“They have to prove that they’re capable of going to a semi-final to prove that they’ve taken the next step. We have to have new leaders stepping up. There are signs there.
“Donegal haven’t been to a semi-final of the All-Ireland since 2014 whereas Tyrone have been to a couple and were in a final. They’re the team with the most pedigree.
“We can’t underestimate Tyrone, but I don’t think Donegal will never underestimate Tyrone.”
