Minister for Agriculture, Food, and the Marine and Fianna Fáil TD for Donegal Charlie McConalogue has welcomed the confirmation in Budget 2021 that an additional €20m has been allocated towards the MICA redress scheme.
Funding of €19m will be carried over from this year, in addition to the funding in Budget 2021.
Minister McConalogue said, “I am delighted to see an additional €20m allocated today to ensure continued funding of the Defective Concrete Blocks Grant Scheme, or MICA redress scheme.
“This is something I have repeatedly raised with my colleagues, Minister for Housing Darragh O’Brien TD and Minister for Public Expenditure Michael McGrath TD.
“Homeowners in Donegal have to be supported in remediating homes affected by mica defective blocks and it is something that Fianna Fáil and the Government has made a clear priority. The Scheme was officially launched in Donegal earlier this year, and now another €20m has been added to its funding levels. Going into 2021 there will be almost €40m available.
“I will work with Minister O’Brien, local public representatives and Donegal County Council to ensure homeowners applying for the scheme have their applications progressed and funding drawn down over the course of the coming year,” concluded Minister McConalogue.
