THERE have been another 23 new cases of Covid-19 confirmed in Donegal today.
The latest figures released by the Department of Health show that 430 new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours across Ireland.
There have now been 34,990 positive cases since the outbreak.
No further deaths were noted today and Ireland’s death toll remains at 1,802.
Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn said: “As we start into this new week, I am asking every household across the country to sit together this evening and make a plan to reduce the number of people you meet this week.
“We have absolutely no room for complacency. If every person, family, workplace and organisation does not play their part the situation will continue to deteriorate.
“For people who live in Donegal and Dublin remember Government advice is to work from home unless it is essential to attend in person. For people living in these and all other counties, assume that COVID-19 is circulating in your community and act accordingly.”
Donegal’s 14-day incidence rate remains the highest in the country at 178.4,
In Dublin, the incidence rate is 148.7 and the next highest is Louth on 94.7, while the national average is 80.7.
Also today, 187 new cases were detected in Northern Ireland.
No further deaths were confirmed in the North today and the region’s death toll remains at 578.
Since the outbreak, there have been 10,729 cases in Northern Ireland.
There are 46 people in Northern Ireland hospitals being treated for Covid-19, with five of those in intensive care units.
