Kelly’s Diner at Mountaintop in Letterkenny has closed temporarily after one of its staff tested positive for Covid.
Kelly’s Centra issued a statement this morning about the decision.
General Manager Martin Rodgers said the welfare of both staff and customers came first.
He said “As the welfare of our staff and customers remain our number one priority during these uncertain times, regrettably we have made the decision to close our diner after being made aware that a member of our diner team has contracted the Covid-19 virus.
“Once we were made aware of this, we implemented our Covid-19 response plan with immediate effect and liaised closely with the HSE and the contact tracing team. As the period of time between the last day worked and symptoms developing, we were advised that no staff or customer would require testing or be in contact with the Covid-19 contact tracing team.
“Thankfully, no other member of staff has shown or developed symptoms as we acted quickly.”
As a further precautionary measure the company made the decision to close the diner to ensure the protection of our staff and customers.
Mr Rodgers added “As well as our ongoing and daily sanitizations, we have also carried out a full deep clean and sanitization with a local company of the entire site.
“We have taken all measures in line with government guidelines throughout this pandemic and liaised closely with the HSE, our staff and customers.”
The diner hopes to open again very soon.
Spokesman Mr Rodgers added “We hope to reopen by the end of week, but we will not make this decision if we feel that the welfare of our staff or customers is put at risk.
“We will continue to liaise with the professionals and make the right decisions for both our staff and customers. Stay safe and see you soon.”
