Árainn Mhór Island is to benefit by almost €100,000 in funding, as part of an allocation for improvement works on islands.
Deputy Joe McHugh said “Works to be undertaken include resurfacing of roads, repairs to sea walls and slipways, and work on coastal defences, and I trust this funding of €98,828 will be a big benefit to Árainn Mhór, it’s residents and visitors to the area.”
“This funding today follows on from an allocation earlier this summer for our islands.
“I am hopefully there will be further investment in the coming months for our Counties islands, as we are all aware of the important and integral role they play in our rural communities, and as part of our overall heritage and cultural offerings,” said McHugh.
The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys, TD, today (23rd September 2020) welcomed the formal transfer of responsibility to her Department for the development of the offshore Islands and announced the allocation of €370,000 in grants for improvement works.
