The Parents Committee at Gaelscoil Adhamhnáin in Letterkenny has been vigorously fundraising for the last few years for an all-weather pitch to replace the pitch at the back of the school.
The old pitch being too wet to use from October until March most years and was therefore out of bounds to the pupils for most of their school year.
The Committee have done a lot of fundraising to progress this development including a memorable Lipsync Battle, Halloween Discos, Zumba classes, a 5K Walk and Run and have had great support from the school’s Board of Management.
They are however currently approximately €24,000 short of the target to complete the project.
But nevertheless, the Committee took the decision in conjunction with the Principal and the Board of Management to proceed with the development over the summer considering the enhanced space required at school to facilitate safe social distancing for children and staff.
Unfortunately, the final fundraising effort (a school raffle) couldn’t happen because of Covid–19 and the closure of the school.
So, with the absence of any foreseeable fundraising opportunities, the Parents Committee at Gaelscoil Adhamhnáin are appealing for help to properly finish this project.
They have set up a GoFundMe site: https://www.gofundme.com/f/gaelscoil-adhamhnain-an-phairc-peile-astro-pitch
But If you would prefer not to use the ‘GoFundMe’ platform, donations can be made directly to the school (Marked – An Pháirc Péile).
The Committee welcome all donations – as the children now more than ever desperately need this space at break times and for PE.
