Donegal is on the verge of being upgraded to Level 3 restrictions under the Government’s plan to tackle the spread of Covid 19.
Dublin was placed on Level 3 at midnight on Friday last and will remain at this level until October 3rd.
The restrictions include only allowing visitors from one other household into your home at one time, no social or family gatherings, suspension of all sporting games, weddings and funerals being limited to 25 people
Now Donegal and a number other counties including Louth and Waterford, are on the verge of being upgraded to the stricter Covid rules.
It follows a spike in Covid cases within the county in the past fortnight which has seen a total of 133 cases here.
Acting Chief Medical officer Dr Ronan Glynn last night tweeted that three counties need to do all they can to break the chain of infection.
He encouraged people across Donegal to follow a number of guidelines in the next seven days saying “We are not powerless in dictating the course of this disease.”
The guidelines included washing your hands regularly and taking a step back and keeping your distance.
He also said people should assume you or those you may meet may be infectious and act accordingly, to wear a face mask and to avoid crowds.
He also encouraged people to download the Covidtracker app, not to go to work if you have concerning symptoms and to encourage one another.
