LIFFORD Old Courthouse will reopen on Tuesday after closing this week due to Covid-19 fears.
The popular amenity closed earlier in the week after a staff member, who was not in a customer-facing role and had no contact with diners or visitors, received a positive Covid-19 test.
All staff members have since been tested.
On Friday evening, Lifford Old Courthouse management confirmed that the final test results have been processed and all staff have tested negative.
“This is obviously a huge relief but also the results we had expected and hoped for,” they said.
“Since re-opening in late June we enhanced our already rigorous cleaning and disinfection schedule in both The Courthouse Bistro and our Jailbreak Escape Rooms. We have carried out extensive staff training, received the Failte Ireland Covid 19 Safety Charter & made a number of changes to ensure that we could best manage during this difficult period.
“These include greatly reducing the capacity of The Courthouse Bistro, reducing the number of Jailbreak slots and making the difficult decision to stop running guided tours.
“We are in no doubt that it is these measures, and the hard work of our staff in implementing them, that have allowed us to prevent the virus from spreading amongst staff. Upon re-opening we will continue to operate as we have before with these measures, ensuring the safety of staff and visitors as best we can.”
Management confirmed that the building will re-open to customers from Tuesday next, September 22.
The statement added: “We closed on Monday immediately after hearing of a positive test because we knew it was the right thing to do for all involved. At a time when many businesses, including ourselves, are struggling, this was obviously not an ideal thing to do, but in the interest of the safety of our staff and customers it was an easy one to make.
“We were glad to see the outpouring of support at that time and hope that no stigma exists for businesses like ours and others who decide to take such steps. This is not a time for taking chances.”
