IRELAND’S Acting Chief Medical Officer, Dr Ronan Glynn, has issued a warning over the improper wearing of face coverings.
Dr Glynn last night outlined that not wearing face coverings in the proper manner can increase the risk from Covid-19.
Face coverings are now mandatory in retail outlets and on public transport.
“If you are wearing them, wear them properly.” Dr Glynn said at the National Public Health Emergency Team briefing.
“We’re seeing far too many people walking around with [face coverings] under their chin. We’re seeing many people wearing them, but with their nose exposed.
“Neither of those things provides any protection and may increase the risk. We’re delighted to see so many people – 90 per cent of people – wearing face coverings where appropriate.”
