COVID-19 testing in Donegal will be moved to a new location next week, Donegal Daily can confirm.
Since March, tests have been carried out at O’Donnell Park, Letterkenny.
From next week, the Donegal Community Testing Centre (CTC) will be moving to a new location at the St Conal’s Hospital Campus.
The HSE has confirmed that works on the new CTC in Letterkenny are ‘well advanced’.
“The CTC is expected to be completed in the coming 7 – 10 days approx,” a HSE spokesperson said.
“Works are well advanced in respect of preparations and will allow for testing to be carried out in a purpose designed facility ongoing.
“The new CTC will operate a drive through model of testing but will be able to accommodate those who do not arrive in transport also.
“The facility is weather proofed to meet the requirements for daily testing ongoing throughout the winter months. Accommodation provided at the new CTC will be for clinical testing staff and administration support staff.”
The HSE paid tribute to the St Eunan’s GAA club, who have facilitated testing and provided a range of supports at the Sallaghagrane venue.
The spokesperson said: “The HSE is most appreciative of St Eunan’s GAA Club allowing it to use its facility at O’Donnell Park, Letterkenny, for testing over the past 5 months.
“The club has been very generous with its facility and its members have provided significant assistance to the HSE during those months and the HSE thanks most sincerely all concerned.”
