The Donegal shop which sold a €2.5M lotto ticket last weekend has narrowly missed out on hitting the jackpot again tonight.
Harris’ Gala/Applegreen Service station in Convoy was again the seller of a lucky ticket – but this time the lucky punter missed out by just one number and instead won the Match 5 plus Bonus prize of €57,263.
Evelyn Harris, owner of the lucky Convoy Service Station, said, the family are in shock at home close they came to selling another jackpot.
She said “The whole family are in the sitting room tonight and ever since we got the call from the National Lottery, we are in a state of absolute shock.
“We have been absolutely buzzing since we celebrated the €2.4 million during the week but to get a call a couple of days later to say that we’ve sold another winner really is overwhelming.
It’s not the amount of the prize that is surprising but to sell a winning ticket so close to the last is just incredible.
“And this player was so close to hitting the jackpot again, within the space of a week. It’s just unbelievable.”
This caps an unbelievable week for Donegal lottery players.
Following last week’s €2.4 million Lotto jackpot win, another player in Ballybeg won the €500,000 EuroMillions Plus prize last Tuesday while on Friday night another player in Ballyshannon almost won the €142 million, narrowly missing out by one luck star which are numbered 1-12.
The lucky player will be happy with the consolation Match 5 + Lucky Star prize of €119,361 prize.
The winning numbers for the €57,263 prize are 05, 09, 12, 30, 34, 39 and the Bonus was 26.
