The National Lottery has delayed naming the winning shop or location of last night’s €2.4M lotto ticket out of respect to the family who perished in the Inishowen car crash on Thursday last.
The Mullan family, including dad John and children, Tomas and Amelia, will be laid to rest tomorrow in Moville.
A spokesperson for the National Lottery told Donegal Daily they have decided to delay giving any further details about the huge prize-winning ticket at this stage.
They urged lottery players to check their tickets and to contact them in private about the claim.
A spokesperson said “Last week’s devastating tragedy truly puts the trivial aspects of our everyday lives into real perspective.
“Out of respect to the Mullan family and to the wider community in Donegal, we will not be announcing any further details on the winning location of last Saturday’s €2.4 million Lotto jackpot win in the county until it is appropriate to do so.
“For the time being, we are asking all of our Donegal players to check their tickets carefully and if you are the winner to contact us on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie”
The winning Lotto numbers (Saturday 23rd August) are: 04, 05, 12, 15, 16, 31 and the Bonus number is: 23.
The lottery spokesperson also advised the winner to try their best to remain calm and be sure to sign the back of the ticket and keep it in a safe place.
This is the 91st Lotto jackpot to be won in Donegal since the Lotto game began in 1988. These 91 jackpots totalled are worth in excess of €118.5 million.
