KILLYBEGS made safe their place in the senior championship with a seven-point away win at Dungloe.
Dungloe 1-8 Killybegs 2-12
Paul Cunningham and Jack McSharry scored the goals as John Cunningham’s side preserved their senior status while a fourth defeat leaves Dungloe preparing for a relegation play-off.
Both teams were reduced to 14 men in the opening quarter, Seamus Óg Byrne seeing red for Killybegs and Matthew Ward sent off for Dungloe.
There was little to separate the teams until Killybegs broke for the opening goal in the 25th minute, Cunningham palming home from close range.
Cunningham’s goal put Killybegs 1-5 to 0-4 in front.
Dungloe hit back and David McCarron fired to the net to bring them closer.
A pair of Hugh McFadden frees had Killybegs 1-7 to 1-5 ahead at half-time.
Just after the break, McSharry fired in a second goal for the Fishermen.
McSharry (2) and McFadden stretched the margin and Killybegs weren’t in trouble
