Letterkenny Tennis Club are hosting the Northwest Junior Tennis Open this week. The tournament which is sanctioned by Tennis Ireland carries important national ranking points in all age categories from u12 to u18 both boys and girls.
The tournament which was postponed in March due to Covid-19 is the 1st junior event to be staged in Ulster since lockdown and there is a record entry with players and families traveling from all corners of the country including Cork and Dublin.
The Government announcement early in the week regarding outdoor sporting events and and the number of people attending have made it challenging but the club committee have put in place rules and guidelines to protect all.
Sadly there is no opportunity for spectators this week but the matches so far have being great despite the difficult weather and restrictions. Congratulations to Letterkenny Tennis Club and the hard work that they put in along with the junior helpers to make this week a success.
