Gaeil Fhanada bounced back from an opening day defeat to Cloughaneely to get their first win in the Intermediate championship with a comfortable win away to Burt on Sunday.

With Michael Sweeney pulling the strings from centrefield, Gaeil Fhanada let by 0-4 to 0-2 at the end of the first quarter with points from Alan McAteer, Sweeney, Oisin Shiels and Oisin McFadden, with Sean McHugh pointing twice for the home side.
McFadden and Mark McAteer both pointed in the closing stages of the first half to give Gaeil Fhanada at 0-6 to 0-2 lead at the break.
The visitors kept their foot on the pedal in the second half, with Alan McAteer getting the first of 11 second half points.
Keeper Eoin McGonigle continued to pick out Sweeney at centre field who claimed a series of marks and fed the forwards inside, with Mark McAteer and Alan McAteer hitting seven points between them
Burt rallied briefly following the introduction Christy McDermott, Joe Boyle and Seamus O’Donnell and Calvin Gallagher, Darren Gallagher and Mark McElhinney added points, but Fanad were able to contain them in defence and punish them at the other end to run out comfortable 11 point winners.
