Construction work has started this week for a new school for St. Mary’s NS in Stranorlar.
Builders are on the ground to begin works on the 24-classroom primary school. Alongside the mainstream classrooms, the new building will provide a for PE Hall and a suite of resource rooms.
The 5 acre site will also allow for further expansion in enrolment up to 700 pupils in the years ahead.
Boyle Construction Ltd won the tender for the project which is expected to take 18 months to complete.
The building has been designed with a very high energy performance.
Staff at St Mary’s welcomed the first day of construction on Monday and said: “We wish Boyle Construction Ltd all the best with the project and we look forward to watching the building develop over the next 18 months. A momentous day for the whole school community, and one that many people have waited a long time to see. Onwards and upwards!”
