Donegal company Gartan Technologies is expanding its team in response to a growing demand for its products and services.
The company specialises in rostering, payroll and competency management software for Public Sector Emergency Services and they have clients in Ireland, Australia, and the UK.
The Covid-19 pandemic has contributed to the surge in demand for Gartan’s solutions that are used to manage the availability and competency compliance of frontline staff.
Malachi Eastwood is CEO at Gartan.
He said “Knowing when first responders are available and that they are properly qualified is fundamental to our clients’ operations. We have been working in the sector for over 20 years, but these are extraordinary times and our solutions are playing an increasingly key role.”
Gartan is recruiting for its Software Development, Quality Assurance and Business Analysis teams and the CEO is seeing changes in the recruitment process.
“We have offices in Letterkenny and Sydney but like many other organisations, remote working is now a major part of our operation. That said, this recruitment drive has been unusual in that we are seeing a subtle increase in the numbers of people wanting to move to the more open spaces of rural Ireland,” added Mr Eastwood.
In 2019 Gartan launched a new competency compliance product called Gartan Expert.
Malachi explains, “It is essential that frontline staffs’ skills are properly maintained and compliant. What’s different about our solution is that it empowers staff to take a proactive role in their professional development process. Staff and organisations have greater ownership about when and how they maintain their qualifications.”
The launch followed a challenging 2018 for the Letterkenny-based software company when a US partnership generated lower than expected sales.
The Gartan CEO said, “That was a difficult time but the US operation is now generating revenues for us and Gartan Expert is attracting interest there, too. We finished 2019 in a strong position and we have continued to see high a demand for our products in the first half of 2020. Working together with our clients we are helping to overcome the challenges presented by Covid-19. The future looks bright for Gartan.”
