iCARE Ltd. provides respite, training, support and information for families who have children with autism from the Inishowen region of Donegal.
The centre is seeking to recruit for two roles – Support Worker and Coordinator for Adult Services
Support Worker
The ideal candidate will have an interest in the area of autism and learning disability.
They will demonstrate empathy and an ability to respond on an individual basis to needs.
In their capacity as a Support Worker, they must ensure the needs of all participants are addressed equally.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver programmes to participants of the Adult Service on a daily basis in an engaging and energetic manner.
• Provide direct practical help, support and guidance to people who use the services.
• Follow the personal outcomes evaluating system, ensuring the best possible outcome
for each individual in each aspect of their life and respect their adult status and
rights at all times.
• Update the personal outcomes/plans and participate in regularly checking the individuals’
needs.
• Support the individual, implementing all care, intimate care, training programmes, and other programmes such as work experience, gaining employment and requested.
Requirements:
Each candidate ideally should possess the following qualifications and experience:
• A minimum FETAC level 6 or equivalent in education/social work/psychology/health and social care or a related area;
• Knowledge and experience of working with people with an intellectual disability/autism;
• A positive attitude towards working with people with an intellectual disability and enabling them to have a positive and fulfilling lifestyle;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Coordinator for Adult Services
The ideal candidate will have an interest in the area of autism and learning disability.
They will demonstrate empathy and an ability to respond on an individual basis to needs while ensuring that the needs of all participants are addressed equally.
Key Responsibilities:
• To coordinate and develop a variety of training and employment opportunities in keeping with the overall development of the new adult service.
• To work to realise the educational, social, employment and training opportunities available within the local community with a focus on creating increased opportunities/alternatives for young adults with ASD and learning disabilities.
• To coordinate and manage staff of the adult service to ensure aims are being met.
• To deliver elements of accredited life skills training to participants of the adult service, working closely with awarding bodies to ensure successful registration and accreditation.
• To coordinate annual information sessions for families in which participants can showcase their work.
• To oversee the specified budget and ensure appropriate spend of funding.
Essential Requirements:
• 3rd level degree in education/social care/psychology/health and social care or a related area.
• Experience working with adults with ASD and learning disabilities.
Desirable Requirements:
• Experience of managing a similar service.
• Experience of managing a team.
