ANOTHER six patients, who had contracted Covid-19, have died, the latest figures from the Department of Health show.
A total of 1,726 Covid-19 deaths have now been recorded in the Republic of Ireland.
Health officials have been notified of a further five cases of the coronavirus.
Since the outbreak, there have been 25,396 cases.
Dr Tony Holohan, Chief Medical Officer, Department of Health, said: “Through our collective action, we have moved in the right direction in our fight against widespread community transmission of Covid-19.
“As we go forward, the behaviour and progression of this disease is in all of our hands.”
Earlier today, Health Service Executive CEO Paul Reid revealed that the average number of close contacts of Covid-19 positive cases is now 4.6 people.
